Soundtrack Recording

Stuart Hancock, composer of The Last Belle score.

Here's a new piece of behind-the-scenes footage from the scoring session of The Last Belle (click here).

As I wrote a zillion posts back, working with Stuart and the orchestra was an absolute highlight of the whole production process. I can't wait to do it again on another project. Pure magic.

  1. Wow,that must have been an amazing experience! Are you musical Neil? I don't think I would have the nerve to hire an orchestra to score my film.

    1. Hi Aaron - I'm not particularly musical in terms of being able to play an instrument, but I have strong ideas about what's needed in a score, and I designed sections of the film to be open for a big musical input. I spent a long time looking for the right composer (to my mind a composer can make or break a film), but as soon as I met Suart I knew I'd found the perfect man for the job. He immediately understood the kind of feel I was after, but also 'plussed' it, delivering something that was way beyond my initial expectations. So in that sense it took no 'nerve' at all to score the film in a big way because I was in the hands of an amazingly talented composer. In fact it was pure pleasure... and I can't wait to experience it again on a future project!
