Online Release!

At Last..! To celebrate our 100th blog post...

After dozens of festivals spanning two years and many countries, The Last Belle finally comes to YouTube!

Creating this film out of nothing has been something of an adventure: made with no money, countless years of work, no money, old-school technology, still no money, a great deal of love, and the loyalty of many hard-working craftspeople.

Click HERE to watch the whole film. Or via our Web Site  where you will find more info. And if you enjoy it please 'like' us, comment, or pass the link on to your friends.

Many thanks. Enjoy!

    1. I wish more people could have seen it up on a big screen, with big sound too, but what the heck... I'm just pleased so many people can get to see it now online. Thanks for writing!

  5. I'm sure you've heard it all already, so I'll try to come at this at a different angle - I wasn't fond of the art style when I saw the film's poster. It's just not my thing, and I almost closed the tab. Instead, I played the video, and as soon as the characters started moving...well, you know. Here I am posting this.

The quality of animation is superb. It kept reminding me of what the short cartoon which opened Roger Rabbit did for me...and then I find out you had worked on that.

Your characters inhabit reality so well, and your use of perspective is so exciting. Everything was pitch perfect to make this a sweet and funny short, in which every frame was so obviously carefully cared for. I love animation. I love it more now. Thank you for The Last Belle.

    1. Hi Douglas - no I didn't work on Fred Bastard, although I know Uli Meyer (the director) and several of his animators.

I'm delighted you like The Last Belle - and thanks for sharing your comments! :-)

  7. Hi Neil, I have been waiting to see your film for a long time and I can tell you the wait was worthy it. It's just amazing and beautiful and the animation and scene planning are fantastic. It was very interesting to learn that you guys did with no money funded by an investor and it gave me the motivation I needed so much because I am trying to finish my own short film with no money either.
Thanks for the inspiration and please, keep hand drawn animation alive like you have. It's only a few of us these days.
    Best.

  8. I knew she would hook up with the bartender

This short is a "living fossil" animation wise

Good work Neil! (due to the fact that it took 15 years to make, I would say that even if I thought it was bad)
